Luxury chalets in the heart of Megève

"Located in the heart of the legendary Megève resort at an altitude of 2,000 meters, facing Mont Blanc, Les Fermes de Marie is a group of nine interconnected chalets. They were built using materials gleaned by the Sibuet family in the 1980s from neighboring farms. A forerunner in the eco-responsible trend, and also a pioneer in the field of mountain spas, Ferme de Marie is a magical place named after the founding couple's daughter. This timeless hamlet shook up the codes of the hotel industry, and its recipe has since been copied many times, never equalled.

The main reason for the success of Les Fermes de Marie over the past 30 years is thatit feels like home. The owners have succeeded in infusing the whole place with the atmosphere of a family guesthouse, far removed from the stuffy luxury hotel business. The atmosphere is relaxed and warm, with friendly, attentive service.

A total of 70 rooms are divided between the 9 chalets. They are characterized by their cosy feel: soft beds and pillows, wood and stone materials that add warmth, sofas covered with fur plaids and cushions... All imbued with the charm of Alpine refuges.

The furniture and decor have been carefully selected by the owner to create a successful mountain style. Rooms and suites range in size from 16 to 90 m². Some rooms have balconies.

The wonderful Pure Altitude spa

The Sibuet family invented a new generation of spa when they opened the Pure Altitude spa, long before the trend swept through all mountain hotels. This marvellous space comprises 1,000 m² entirely dedicated to well-being, with a magnificent indoor pool and swimming corridor, an outdoor sauna and jacuzzi, Japanese baths and no fewer than 13 treatment cabins.

Sports enthusiasts can also warm up in a Technogym-equipped fitness room, while a herbal tea room and relaxation area await those who like to unwind.

Pure Altitude is a cosmetics range offering 100% natural products with rare active ingredients from over 200 mountain plants and minerals, with antioxidant and remineralizing properties. All spa treatments use this house brand.

The treatment menu is comprehensive, with signature mountain-inspired massages and the use of Asian techniques. Among the massages on offer is the candle ritual, a full-body massage with notes of wild narcissus, broom and aromatic herbs. Ultra-repairing, this treatment envelops the body in gentle warmth and deeply nourishes the skin.

Among our must-have skin care products is a "Snow Crystals" scrub, formulated around the benefits of crystals and minerals. This Kaolin and Malachite scrub blends with softening hazelnut oil to create a supple, comfortable texture.

Signature treatments include "Blanc comme neige": a "Cristaux de Neige" scrub followed by a "Comme la Neige" cream wrap, with anti-aging edelweiss and soothing Arctic berries.

Wellness retreats and fitness programs

Fitness programs can be spread over one or more days, combining treatments and massages with sports coaching sessions. They can also be booked in conjunction with balanced cuisine.

Les Fermes de Marie also organizes several-day retreats dedicated entirely to well-being, in partnership with the Tigre Yoga Club, whose founder Elodie Garamond we interviewed here.

The usual format takes place over 4 days, with alternating Vinyasa yoga classes, mindfulness walks and meditation sessions. There's also time for talking circles. Naturally, the food is adapted accordingly, with a healthy, detoxified menu. Days end at the spa, where massages and baths await participants. These retreats are often fully booked, so remember to reserve well in advance.

A variety of restaurants to choose from

The various Fermes de Marie restaurants invite you to enjoy a variety of culinary experiences, from traditional Savoyard specialities such as raclette, to gourmet dishes such as roast Coquille Saint-Jacques on a fine truffle purée.

The Restaurant Traditionnel is located in the heart of the main chalet, and offers fine dining, while the Restaurant Alpin serves regional cuisine featuringSavoyard folklore in a warm atmosphere."
